In conversation with Anwar El Ghazi, Sam Morsy and Hamza Choudhury

Nujum Sports brought its three ambassadors, Anwar El Ghazi, Sam Morsy and Hamza Choudhury, to Conway Hall, a 400-seat venue in central London, on Monday 30 June 2025, for an evening in support of children in Gaza. El Ghazi, Morsy, then captain of Ipswich Town, and Choudhury, then of Leicester City, spoke directly to a ticketed audience about why they had chosen to speak out for children in Gaza, with proceeds going to Islamic Relief UK.

The event

Doors opened at 7pm at Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Street, London WC1R 4RL, for a theatre-style evening of live conversation and audience questions. Funds raised went towards emergency medical aid, trauma support, food assistance, clean water and shelter for children in Gaza, distributed through Islamic Relief UK.

England cricketer Moeen Ali also joined the panel on the night as a guest speaker alongside the three footballers.

The three ambassadors

Anwar El Ghazi, Sam Morsy and Hamza Choudhury are Nujum Sports’ three ambassadors. El Ghazi had his contract with Mainz 05 terminated in November 2023 over a social media post in support of Palestinians, a decision that cost him his livelihood before a German court later ruled in his favour and ordered the club to pay him 1.5 million euros in compensation. Morsy, then captain of Ipswich Town, and Choudhury, then of Leicester City, joined him on the panel. Choudhury switched international allegiance from England’s youth ranks to Bangladesh’s senior side, confirmed in December 2024.
